SAFE ENVIRONMENT

As part of the ongoing commitment to keeping children and the elderly safe, the Oakland Diocese requires each parish to have their employees; volunteers and ministers take a course for Safe Environment every 3 years. It is our retraining year as it has been 3 years since St. Isidore volunteers and ministers have had to take the Safe Environment course. As a visible presence at Mass, children and vulnerable adults may seek your help if they are in trouble.  Therefore, all music ministers are required to take the Safe Environment course "Virtus."

The online course takes about 60 to 75 minutes to complete and does not need to be done all at the same time. (The course can also be taken as a workshop which takes about 3 hours.) The information for the live workshops can also be found by clicking on the VIRTUS button BELOW. Once you have completed the Safe Environment course, you will be asked to print a certificate. Please email or mail or drop off a copy of your certificate to me or the parish office no later than Oct. 20th.

If you have already taken the Virtus course for the School please make sure the parish office has a copy of your certificate. If you have already taken the Virtus course for Faith Formation, we should already have your certificate on file. Thank you all for your time and efforts in keeping the most vulnerable safe. If you have any questions or need any further information, please feel free to contact me at ksigmon@sichurch.com or 925-362-1917.
